Joffré Roy-Beauregard

Joffré Roy-Beauregard was born in Granby, Québec, in 1993. He is a young passionate and multifaceted, Montreal-based artist. He recently completed his BFA at Montreal’s Concordia University, majoring in Painting and Drawing. However, before focusing on art making, he completed a BSC in biomedical sciences at the University of Montreal. He then briefly worked in the field of neuroscience research, but found himself yearning for more freedom and a vocation that would quench his thirst for creativity. Globe-trotter, It is while traveling in Central America that the idea of engaging in fine art studies took root.
Therefore, his practice emerges from the junctions between his scientific educational background and his personal interest in visual art. Joffré’s work ranges from classical painting to street art, but also includes installations and sculptures. Still exploring various mediums in order to expand his artistic language, his practice is work-intensive, dedicated to intricacy and details.
With his art, Joffré’s intention is to expose the complex reciprocal relationship between humans and their environment, be it natural, urban or technological. Through his creations, he emphasizes disregarded or overlooked elements that compose these synergic relationships. By doing so, he hopes to remind the viewers of these networks importance and question our engagement in them.
