Empty Bowls 2020
Troy’s Empty Bowls is a fantastically crowded event that has been held at the Italian American Community Center for years, bringing together artists, chefs, and communities to help raise money for local food programs. The COVID-19 pandemic almost caused the cancellation of this annual event along with so many others. But volunteers with the Collar City Clay Guild worked with the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market to make it happen again this year — safely. Potters are busy handthrowing and handbuilding bowls the 15th Annual Empty Bowls, which will be held at the Farmer’s Market over three weekends starting this coming Saturday, October 3, and then again on October 10 and 17 from 8:30am -2pm. HMM correspondent Corinne Carey spoke with co-chairs of the event, Beth Joslin and Stephanie Wojtowicz about what the event will look like this year.
