Race Amity Day
Sunday, June 13 is Race Amity Day. Race Amity Day is based on the belief, promoted by the National Race Amity Center that, “Race relations in America will not substantially improve unless the public discourse on race moves beyond the blame-grievance-rejection framework to one that recognizes and celebrates our ability to overcome racial prejudice through association, amity, and collaboration.“
The Race Unity Circle, based in Poughkeepsie, NY is marking the holiday with an online summit on for friendship and understanding between races. Moses Nagel spoke with 3 members of the steering committee about the meanings of Race Amity and the plans for this years’ summit.
