Center for Community Progress “Creative Placemaking” Database: Freedom Square
More about the Center for Community Progress and their Creative Placemaking Database
Check it out! The organization the Center for Community Progress released in October, 2021 an online database showcasing creative placemaking projects across the country, and they chose Freedom Square and The Sanctuary for Independent Media to showcase!
The Center for Community Progress is the leading national resource for urban, suburban, and rural communities seeking to equitably address the full cycle of property revitalization. Since 2010, they have supported 300 communities in 35 states and tens of thousands of individuals to more effectively address the challenges and costs imposed by vacant, abandoned, and deteriorated properties. Their Creative Placemaking Database identifies leaders from across the country who are using arts, culture, and creative placemaking to reactivate vacant spaces, engage residents, set revitalization goals, and create a vision for their neighborhood. From pop-up events to permanent communal gathering spaces to storytelling through murals, leaders are using creative means to increase the vibrancy of their communities and improve quality of life for their neighbors.
