Deep Listening Convergence
June 8, 2007 @ 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm EDT
Forty five musicians are coming together at the LifeBridge Sanctuary in High Falls NY after a five month virtual residency online to perform three New York State concerts: June 8 in Troy at the Sanctuary for Independent Media, June 9 at Time Space Ltd. in Hudson and June 10 at the LifeBridge Sanctuary in High Falls. Originally proposed by Vonn New with the assistance of technical director Scot Gresham-Lancaster, the three concerts are the proof of concept. Via the internet using Skype, musicians form new ensembles, improvise, plan and rehearse in audio conferences up to ten players at a time. The concerts will feature various world premieres and a wide array of compositions including Pauline Oliveros’ famous Worldwide Tuning Meditation.

The New York State Music Fund was created when the New York State Attorney General’s Office resolved investigations against major record companies that had violated state and federal laws prohibiting “pay for play” (also called “payola”). The settlement agreement stipulated that funds paid by music businesses would support music education and appreciation for the benefit of New York State residents. The Attorney General’s Office enlisted the services of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, one of the nation’s largest and most experienced philanthropy services, to develop and manage the grant program.
We are committed to lowering the barriers to access for events at The Sanctuary for Independent Media.
