Where Do Gardens Come From? And Where Do They Go?

Join us for the first of the virtual series: BioArt Talks @CBIS. On March 25 from 12:30-1:30pm, Orkan Telhan will present the outcomes of an ongoing research project that is centered on an investigation in Istanbul’s historical gardens and how they endure social, environmental, and political challenges over 1500 years.

The talk will feature artworks and scientific research that intend to foreground the less-visible aspects of the gardens, discussing the roles gentrification, immigration, nationalism, and the climate crisis in shaping their meaning in the public imaginary.
