Plant the Seed
“Plant the Seed” is a short documentary video produced by Garrett McCarey for The Sanctuary for Independent Media. The video premiered at The Sanctuary on March 22, 2023, as part of the two-day program “Rooted in Independent Media, Growing Toward a Just Future.” It preceded a talk by Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! which was followed by a conversation between Amy Goodman and Steve Pierce about independent media, and the many roles he has played in the world of activist media. The evening before (March 21st), featured a celebration concert with Latinx musicians Eljuri and Taína Asili. The weekend was organized to celebrate the leadership and accomplishments of Steve Pierce, the outgoing Executive Director of The Sanctuary for Independent Media, who helped co-found the organization and was responsible for helping build the organization’s many initiatives.
