Winter Herbal Series: DIY Fire Cider

Event Series Event Series (See All)

January 26 @ 2:00 pm 3:30 pm EST

Join the Community Apothecary for a series of winter herbal workshops at the People’s Health Sanctuary, including DIY Fire Cider (January 26), Essential Winter Self-Care through Skincare & Scent (Feb 2), and Elder: The Magical Medicine Chest of the People (Feb 23).

DIY Fire Cider: Fire Cider is a traditional folk remedy that has been used and shared for generations by herbalists to ward off sickness and promote health. Made with apple cider vinegar and honey, it is infused with a variety of pungent herbs: garlic, onions, horseradish, ginger, and hot peppers to name a few. There are many possible variations to create this tart & spicy, health tonic. Come learn more about the many properties of Fire Cider, as well as how to craft your own. Plus, you will leave with a jar to take home!

Limited spots available. Registration with a $10 refundable deposit is required to hold your place. Donations recommended on a sliding scale of $0 – 40; no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Facilitator Bio: Rebecca Hein is a community herbalist and urban farmer. Founder and owner of Underground Alchemy, she has been making herbal remedies grown on what were vacant lots in Albany’s South End since 2011.
