Abe Hmiel
Abe Hmiel is currently a Ph.D. student at The College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at SUNY Albany, creating simulations of chemical processes at nanoscale size scales. He enjoys playing music (with nine self-produced studio albums so far), running, riding bikes, cooking healthy vegan food, and creating a sustainable future. He had a leadership role in Albany Food not Bombs for five years and maintains regular contact with the group. Hmiel took a huge part in the “Found Food Wednesdays” during Uptown Summer ’13. This event provided lunches that were made largely from perfectly healthy, sanitary, and delicious food that would otherwise be thrown away into a landfill. Abe Hmiel helped feed our community and helped raise awareness about the millions of people that go hungry everday.
