Be The Media! Workshop with Stephanie Rothenberg: Second Life for Community Development & Re-imagining Your Neighborhood Through Virtual Reality
November 7, 2010 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm EST
Join artist Stephanie Rothenberg as we create an alternative North Troy in Second Life. Imagine with us what community resources and other improvements can be created to fill the vacant urban landscape. Participants will work as a team to create 3D prototypes using Second Life’s building tools and real time collaborative environment to re-imagine our urban landscape of The Sanctuary in North Central Troy. We will create a 3D model of the block of 6th Ave. between Glen and 101st St. We will be joined virtually in Second Life with architecture/urban planning students from Cairo, who will help us build the prototype. Check out Building a Classroom Across an Ocean to learn more about this collaborative learning exchange between Cairo and the U.S.
Sponsored by iEAR Presents! and the Department of the Arts at RPI, TAP (Troy Architectural Project), Missing Link Street Ministry Mission, Uptown Restoration Initiative and Troy Alley Action.
We are committed to lowering the barriers to access for events at The Sanctuary for Independent Media. For people who are hard of hearing or deaf, blind or low-vision, or whose physical limitations can interfere with a satisfying experience, let us know two weeks in advance so we can make appropriate arrangements.
