“Body of War” with Filmmaker Dee Dee Halleck
September 12, 2008 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm EDT
Tomas Young, 25 years old, was paralyzed by a bullet to his spine after serving in Iraq for less than a week. Body of War (2007) follows Tomas as he comes to terms with his disability and finds his own unique and passionate voice against the war. This documentary was produced and directed by Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro. Legendary community media activist Dee Dee Halleck, who played a major role in bringing this story to film, will speak about the film. Iraq War vet Tyler Boudreau will sign copies of his new book Packing Inferno: The Unmaking of a Marine.
Co-sponsored by the Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley, Women Against War and Bethlehem Neighbors for Peace.
