Collard City Growers Pruning Workshop
February 17, 2019 @ 11:00 am – 2:00 pm EST
Join us on Sunday February 17th from 11-2 for an informative interaction with our favorite friends, the trees!! This pruning workshop officially kicks off the 2019 growing season, woohoo!
Our food forest spans one city block and contains trees of all shapes, sizes and functions. We will have a workshop and demonstration at freedom square and then break into groups to tackle the different areas, and wrap up with block-wide brush gathering. The local arborists of Magai Arboriculture will be on hand and on limb to guide us in the pruning process to ensure healthy, safe, and productive trees.
We will attmept to cover:
- Tree identification
- Needs of urban trees
- Tool selection
- Climbing and ladder safety
- Making appropriate cuts
- Pruning for fruit production
- The art of dragging brush
- What to do with all those prunings
Please dress for the weather, bring water and work gloves, and any pruning tools you like to use.
We are committed to lowering the barriers to access for events at The Sanctuary for Independent Media.
