Exhibition at the Underground Gallery: “Dear Climate” by Marina Zurkow and Friends
October 5, 2014 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm EDT
In collaboration with Una Chaudhuri, Oliver Kellhammer, Fritz Ertl and Sarah Rothberg and sound design by Pejik Malinovski, Dear Climate is a multifaceted project that reimagines the environment with a poetic series of agit-prop posters and meditative audio pieces. Designed to “retool your inner climate,” this art exhibit beckons the viewer to meet, befriend, and become climate change. The work is designed to flex its nimble agitation mediation muscles in a variety of urban and urbane formats, connecting the politics of climate change with the personal. Dear Climate is a project with many incarnations. Marina Zurkow builds animations and participatory environments that focus on human’s relationship with animals, plants and the weather. She is on faculty at NYU’s Interactive Technology Program (ITP) and is represented by bitforms gallery. Dear Climate will be on view from 10/5/14-12/20/14, with an event featuring Kellhammer and Zurkow on 11/12/14.
