On August 8, the Water Justice Lab team had a virtual conversation with Wanonah Spencer who told us about how her Mohican ancestry and culture connect her to her homelands on the Mahicannituck/Hudson River, followed by a trip to Papscanee Island south of the current-day town of Renssealer. This land was recently returned to the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohican Indians.
