Initiated in 2011, Uptown Summer is a summer program curated for the young people of North Troy. This program combines art, media, and science with community engagement. Integrating Sanctuary initiatives such as Hudson Mohawk Magazine, NATURE Lab, and Collard City Growers, participants work side-by-side with artists, college professors, community members, historians, media professionals, and scientists. Local youth gain skills in order to create their own narratives through different modes of storytelling, with the goal of amplifying their voices within their community.
