Press Conference: Residents Demand Troy Deals with Lead Pipes Issue
Since Troy residents found out a few weeks ago that there are many lead service lines throughout the city and the administration knew about it for at least five years without action, people have been speaking out and organizing. Prior to the Troy City Council’s Public Utilities meeting on Thursday, February 16, there was a press conference organized by Clean Water for Environmental Advocates NY to push the city to proactively address the lead issue. Here are some of the voices from that press conference.
OUTRO: At the Public Utilities meeting that took place directly after the press conference Mayor Madden responded to the call to action with a plan that will address the issue with 100% coverage of cost. Details are still being worked out but the City hopes to start round one of work in May.
