Ugandan Clinic Co-founded by Albany Woman
Hear about Engeye, a nonprofit that sponsors a health clinic in Ddegeya, Uganda, to provide services to 15,000-20,000 patients per year, including the only maternity clinic in a large rural area. Matt Liquori, VP for Communications, explains how the clinic was co-founded by an Albany woman from Albany Medical Center about 20 years ago, and continues a strong connection with volunteers in Albany. Amy Haven, VP for Scholars, shares how the organization has grown to suport 20 scholars from the area in a variety of professions. Both Matt and Amy are alums of Union College, a school that had strong connections with Engeye for 12 years. Both have spent 9 months on site, and each has visited later with their mothers. Matt talks about many ways that listeners can help the organization in Uganda or from here. For information, visit www.engeye.org. Produced by Brea Barthel for Hudson Mohawk Magazine.
