Albany Common Council Update 8 – 5
At the Albany Common Council meeting on August 5, the council voted on some consequential issues including an ordinance to limit the proliferation of smoke shops in the city.
First, the council addressed a law that would make the Civilian Police Review Board a part of the city. This change in the organization of the board had been much debated and was needed to meet the referendum passed last year mandating the CPRB to handle it’s own investigations and have subpoena power over police and officials.
