Making Sports Accessible

Hear how a local nonprofit organization makes many outdoor activities accessible for visually and mobility impaired folks. Russ Myer, of the Capital Region Nordic Alliance, explains how the group creates “Trail-O” options for orienteering that enable both physically challenged and able-bodied people enjoy nature. A demonstration will be held with Rensselaer Center for Open Source on June 27th, 9am to 4 pm, at Shaker Heritage Society, 25 Meeting House Rd. in Albany (pre-registration is requested; see email below). He also previews an August event bringing veterans from the United Kingdom, perhaps with a famous person joining them. For details on the many other adapted sports — including paranordic biathlon, cross-country skiing, “paraskeleton,” and more — visit capitalregionnordicalliance.org or contact Russ Meyer at [email protected].
