Update on DocGo and Refugee Hotel Program

In 2023, New York City experienced a large influx of asylum seekers and refugees. New York City mayor Eric Adams signed a contract with a company called DocGo which had previous experience managing COVID vaccine rollouts to transport hundreds of recently arrived people to the capital region and house and provide them with a myriad of services. Over the last eighteen months, major problems have been reported with the DocGo contract and a huge responsibility for serving the new arrivals and helping them integrate into our community has fallen on local agencies who are not benefiting from the massive funds included in the contract. One of these groups is the Columbia County Sanctuary Movement. Moses Nagel spoke with Haley Powers, the groups re-settlement coordinator about the current state of the contract and the people it was meant to serve.
