UREC Activities June 2024

Paul Stewart from Albany’s Underground Railroad Education Center describes two June events. On Saturday June 15th, from noon to 4 pm, UREC will celebrate Juneteenth (a couple days early) with music, poetry, food, information booths, and more, at the Stephen & Harriet Myers Residence at 194 Livingston Avenue in Albany’s Arbor Hill. The day before, on June 14th, UREC will host a “listening session” to introduce a statewide Harriet Tubman “Corridor” linking organizations focused on Undergound Railroad history and other groups, with a “listening session” to get ideas about what people would ike to see in the Corridor. That will be held at the Albany Center for Economic Success, at 155 Orange St. in Albany, 11 am to 12:30 pm. For more details, and information on touring the Myers residence, visit undergroundrailroadhistory.org. Produced by Brea Barthel for Hudson Mohawk Magazine.
